Patient Information

Anaesthesia

Your anaesthetist has had a great deal of training in order to satisfy the requirements of the regulatory body in Australia. This includes five years of anaesthetic training after the six year medical degree.

Pre operative assessment

Each anaesthetic is tailored to the requirements of the surgery and numerous patient factors. Patients are usually seen on the day of surgery to discuss their anaesthetic at a preoperative consultation.

Prior consultations

Occasionally individuals need an assessment days or weeks prior to elective surgery. This may be due to the nature of their surgery or their health. Often these consultations are arranged by the surgeon.
Please feel free to contact me regarding your anaesthetic if you feel this is required.

During surgery

Your anaesthetist will stay with you throughout your procedure. During this period your level of consciousness and vital signs are monitored and plans are made to ensure a comfortable awakening. If problems develop during this period your anaesthetist will be present to rapidly respond.
